Anna interprets Maja’s lack of response as personal dislike. Helena helps her separate observable behaviour from the intention she has assigned to it.

Anna greets Maja in an office corridor, but Maja walks past without eye contact or a reply.
Good morning, Maja.
During another brief exchange, Maja adopts a guarded posture while Anna tries to understand her behaviour.
She refuses to be managed by me.
Helena facilitates a conversation between Anna and Maja at a round table, helping them name their different interpretations.
When you don’t answer and cut conversations short, I experience it as resistance.
I don’t see the situation the way you do.
Helena explains that understanding the situation better does not yet mean the relationship is repaired.
We understand more. That doesn’t mean the relationship suddenly works.
Anna and Maja calmly agree on boundaries for working together, although tension between them remains visible.
I don’t want to assign you motives I don’t actually know.
And I don’t want to pretend this relationship works.

Anna can separate the fact that Maja did not answer from the hypothesis that Maja does not respect her. Better understanding does not have to remove a real conflict. Sometimes empathy leads to a more accurate boundary rather than reconciliation. Name the observation first, then your interpretation, and test it in conversation. If the relationship still fails, set boundaries without pretending to know the other person’s motives.
